Films on Rocks of Ya Noi

It was thought to be just a movie-by-the-sea. Films on the Rocks Ya Noi turned out to be an alternative sharing session of films- not just a covergence of the world but a dialogue with nature.

The inaugural edition of Film on the Rocks Ya Noi took place from March 9th - 13th, 2012. A 4 day, 3 night voyage of discovery which was built by the participants themselves.Curators Tilda Swinton and Apichatpong Weerasethakul have introduced a concept called “Message in a Bottle” which the Programme was curated upon. Guests were requested to bring their own “message in a bottle” which can be anything, a film, a book, a sculpture, a painting, or even a performance. The book and film will be preserved in the “Message in a Bottle Library” which will be replicated for the local townsfolk.

The finale night being a film presentation under the stars, was a refreshing intepretation of outdoor movie screenings. Seated nicely between the rocks of Phang Na Bay, the cinema was crafted out of recycled materials, and its modular construction allows for flexibility and future reuse. I thought is looks really comfy!
A beach party as post event sounds like a fantastic idea, seeing how beautiful the water is.
I would very much like to attend similar events. Movie at the park, movie in the car are passe.
